Mary Beth + Jacob- Buffalo Trace Distillery Wedding- FRANKFORT, KENTUCKY

What comes to mind when you hear the word love? A kiss on the cheek from your mom?Finding the perfect, sentimental gift for your favorite person? Dancing to your favorite Spice Girls song with the women who helped mold you over the years from childhood to your college days? Love is shown in little ways, big ways, and in ways you may not even notice. But it was ALL AROUND during the Miles wedding.

I met Mary Beth and Jacob earlier this year when I shot their engagement photos. We met near a coffee shop and explored around downtown Lexington for a little over an hour. Right away I knew I would love getting to work with them. We talked about wedding details and our favorite restaurants and breweries in Lexington. They gushed about a recent trip to Asheville, NC and gave me lots of great recommendations for the area (I’ll go one of these days!) We ended the shoot on the rooftop of a parking garage right before the sun started to set which gave the dreamiest lighting.

I arrived to take photos of the bride while she had her hair and makeup done and she immediately offered me a mimosa and I thought “this is going to be my kind of day!” It’s a testament to who she is as a person. She is so kind and thoughtful to everyone around her.

Laughs were had and tears were shed throughout the early afternoon in the hotel suite where everyone got ready for the ceremony. I learned that if you drink water it will help you stop crying (or maybe it’s just a good distraction!)

The ceremony was absolutely wonderful and I loved that they prepared kind (and comical) words about one another that the officiant read aloud right before they placed their wedding bands on each other’s hand. It was a packed house and family and friends watched warmly as the couple exchanged vows.

The reception was nonstop fun! After dinner, the dance floor opened up and was full of people until the very end of the night. The couple had brewed their own pumpkin beer to serve to their guests and it was a big hit. It was a wedding that made me so thankful that I get to do this for a living! Sharing in such a special part of the lives of others is an honor.
