Landon's First Year- By: Bre Taulbee- Lexington Maternity, Newborn & Child Photographer

I met Carly and Matt at their Maternity session in January 2018. It was a chilly day at Keeneland in Lexington! I automatically clicked with them. They both have laid back personalities and great senses of humor. We chatted about expectations for their birth story session which was just around the corner. Landon was due in early/mid February.

Fast forward to February 15th 2018, Landon's birthday! I arrived to the hospital mid day to wait for the birth. As most laboring goes, it took a bit longer than expected. This gave me time to get to know Carly and Matt's family! They had an amazing support system waiting there with them. The hours were getting longer and longer as we waited for Landon. At one point later in the night Carly and Matt felt like it would be a few more hours so I ran home (about 10 minutes from the hospital) to take a little breather. By the time I made it to my apartment I got a call saying labor had progressed quickly and it was TIME! I drove back as quickly as I could (within legal speeds) and went back to their room. Within 20 minutes Landon made his debut! It was an amazing moment. I teared up behind my camera (this happens a lot, I get emotional when such big moments happen). Life is truly beautiful. And in moments like this it's overwhelmingly evident. I stayed to capture photos of Landon being weighed and checked by nurses, and family members getting to meet him for the first time.

Once the new family was able to get settled in at home, I made a house call to do Landon's newborn photos. He was perfectly cozy and sleepy during his session! I love getting a mixture of posed and lifestyle shots during sessions. It's important to me to get some shots including parents!

Landon did a lot of growing after that newborn session! He was around 9 months old for his Christmas photos.

Now an entire year has passed and Landon is ONE! Look at that infectious smile, I think he's figured out how to work the camera.
